Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur will miss the rest of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury – prompting reaction from both Lucas Moura and Jermaine Jenas on the club’s Instagram post.
It is an enormous blow for Spurs. Aside from Harry Kane, 25-year-old Bentancur has been Tottenham’s best player this season. The 54-time Uruguay star scored his sixth goal for Spurs this term, only for Leicester to go on and win 4-1.
He was subbed on 65 minutes, not a regular occurrence for Bentancur. Scans have since shown that the ex-Juventus star will undergo surgery after picking up an ACL injury. It is believed he will be out until August or even, September.
Just days before Tottenham’s Champions League knockout clash against AC Milan, Bentancur is now out. Spurs took to Instagram on Monday morning to confirm the injury blow – telling fans that he will be out until the summer, or more.
