Tony Cascarino has suggested in The Times that Tottenham Hotspur should get rid of Eric Dier.
The former Chelsea player does not think that Dier is good enough to play for Tottenham.
The talkSPORT pundit made the comments about the £92,000-a-week (SalarySport) England international central defender, who can also operate as a midfielder, in the wake of Spurs losing to Leicester City in the Premier League at the weekend.
Tottenham Hotspur told to ditch Eric Dier
Cascarino wrote: “Can someone explain to me how so many successive Tottenham managers have fallen in love with Eric Dier?
“He is an honest, decent player who could be OK for a mid-ranking Premier League team, but he cannot be a main centre half for a team competing for the Champions League.
“He has a bad habit of standing off forwards as they advance on goal. He did it against Leicester again on Saturday. The Spurs back line needs rebuilding but not around Dier.”

What should Spurs do?
In our view, Tottenham Hotspur should not just let Eric Dier leave at the end of the season. We think that the 29-year-old is good enough to play for Spurs.
Yes, Dier is not an ‘elite’ defender.
The likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Manchester City would not sign the Englishman.
However, Tottenham are not an ‘elite’ team.
And Dier suits them.
You cannot expect world-class defenders to join Tottenham when they do not challenge for the Premier League or the UEFA Champions League.
That successive Tottenham managers, including Antonio Conte, has used Dier and made him an important player in their team shows just highly he is thought of at Spurs.
