Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur could be out for at least six months after suffering a major injury against Leicester City.
That’s according to Uruguayan reporter Federico Buysan, who has taken to Twitter to claim that it’s not good news for Bentancur.
Buysan claims that Bentancur has had an MRI scan on his knee injury this morning.
It’s suggested that Bentancur has torn his cruciate ligament – which could be his anterior or medial ligament – and now faces at least six months out.
Buysan notes that the ‘recovery will be long’ and Bentancur seemingly won’t play for Tottenham again until next season.
That’s a colossal blow to Antonio Conte, who may now look for Yves Bissouma and Oliver Skipp to step up.

Rodrigo Bentancur injury compounds dismal Tottenham weekend
Bentancur went down in agony as Tottenham faced Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.
The Uruguayan went in to tackle Nampalys Mendy but his knee appeared to buckle underneath him.
Bentancur was taken off and his season now appears to be over.
Tottenham were already 3-1 down when Bentancur suffered his injury and it got seven worse as Leicester added a fourth.
Tottenham’s top four hopes were already dented by that hammering but fans will feel that they now hang by a thread with Bentancur now out.
Bentancur had earlier scored Tottenham’s goal against the Foxes, taking his tally for the season to five goals in 18 Premier League games.
Conte and Spurs will really miss the quality Bentancur provides on the ball as well as his goal threat from midfield.
That won’t be easy to replace, especially with two players who aren’t known for their attacking play in Bissouma and Skipp.
The news of Bentancur’s layoff hasn’t yet been confirmed, but it doesn’t sound good for the Tottenham midfielder.
