Nottingham Forest midfielder Tyrese Fornah admits he would ‘love’ to sign a permanent contract at Reading following an impressive spell on loan from the Premier League outfit, speaking to the Reading Chronicle.

At the age of 23, London-born Fornah might have already missed the boat as far as his parent club is concerned.

As of now, he has Ryan Yates, Remo Freuler, Orel Mangala, Jonjo Shelvey, Cheikhou Kouyate, Jack Colback and Lewis O’Brien all ahead of him in the City Ground pecking order.

Fortunately, Fornah has done his growing reputation the world of good on loan in the Championship; making quite the impression at a Reading side defying the doom-mongers who tipped them for relegation.

Fornah has 18 months left on his Nottingham Forest contract. His hopes of earning a long-term stay at the Madejski, however, rests largely on whether or not Reading can escape the vice-like grip of that pesky transfer embargo.

Nottingham Forest’s Tyrese Fornah hopes to stay at Reading

“I would love to (stay) if it was down to me,” Fornah admits. “I’d sign now! There’s a bigger picture, and it’s between the two clubs, but I do hope my future is here long-term. We will see. I’m not thinking about it now, that’s for the summer.”

Fornah, who has also had spells at Plymouth Argyle and Shrewsbury Town, has played 22 games in all competitions under Paul Ince at Reading. And the one-time Brighton prospect believes that, if he does return to the City Ground in June, he will be going back a ‘better player’.

“I’m always on Ty’s case,” Ince said a few months ago. “I know, when I was a 22-year-old (now 23-year-old) midfielder, that people were on to me, like Mark Hughes and Bryan Robson. I know he can be a top player, and the last two games he has been absolutely outstanding.

“He’s maturing each game, and you can forget that he’s never played at this level. I don’t like to single people out but I’m going to because he was immense.”
