Max Wober endured a hit-and-miss outing during Leeds’ 2-2 draw at Manchester United, former Premier League midfielder Jamie O’Hara telling talkSPORT (8 February, 11pm) that the winter signing needs to improve his decision making.
Wober perhaps epitomised Leeds’ Jekyll and Hyde performance more than anyone else at Old Trafford. On one hand, some superb pieces of defending; the Austria international clearing an Alejandro Garnacho effort off the line in the first-half.
On the other, well let’s just say his distribution maybe needs some work. Erik ten Hag’s high-pressing hosts pounced on a number of misplaced passes. One in particular resulting in Junior Firpo picking up a yellow card to stop Marcus Rashford racing through on goal.

“He was making some bad mistakes,” points out former Tottenham playmaker O’Hara.
“He kept coming out with the ball. Sometimes, you’ve just got to shell it. There are times, when you are playing Man United, when you’ve just got to put your foot through it.”

Leeds paid an initial £10 million for Wober, reuniting Jesse Marsch with his former Red Bull Salzburg coach Jesse Marsch. Well, briefly, at least.
The positives have far outweighed the negatives as far as the one-time Ajax youngster is concerned, however, with Wober adding some steel to the spine of this previously wafer-thin Leeds side.
“Max, for a young player, he’s very mature. He’s a leader,” Marsch said shortly before his sacking at Elland Road.
Wober has featured in every single minute of Leeds’ last three Premier League games, and appears to be striking up a positive early understanding with Germany international Robin Koch. Whoever takes Marsch’s place in West Yorkshire will likely see Wober as a key piece in his jigsaw going forward.
“He was an extremely important player,” explains Christoph Freund, Red Bull Salzburg’s sporting director.
“But (moving to England) was his wish. I’m convinced we can replace him. It’s another great opportunity for our young players (to step into Wober’s shoes).”
