Feyenoord coach Arne Slot is reportedly not likely to take the Leeds United job amid rumours that the Whites are interested in appointing the 44-year-old Dutchman.

According to the Guardian, the Feyenoord boss, who has led the Rotterdam-based club to top of the Eredivisie at the time of writing, is not considering leaving his position in Holland to succeed Jesse Marsch as manager of Leeds, with Rayo Vallecano coach Andoni Iraola also turning down the position.

With Carlos Corberan also signing a new contract with West Bromwich Albion, Leeds are slowly running out of first-choice options to replace Marsch, who was sacked earlier this week following a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest, leaving the Whites close to the relegation zone.

Although Leeds managed a 2-2 draw against Manchester United last night, the hunt to appoint a new manager will continue on until Sunday’s rematch against the Red Devils, with Slot seemingly no longer an option for the Yorkshire giants based on this latest update.

Indeed, whilst Leeds still have some impressive coaches in mind to replace Marsch, such as Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou and Bodo/Glimt’s Kjetil Knutsen, seeing three names reject the chance to join the Elland Road side could be a massive problem in the coming days.

Supporters will want a new face in through the door as soon as possible, and with quality managers being taken off the shortlist with each passing day, Leeds are running out of time to justify their decision to sack Marsch in the first place.

Marsch’s sacking could already be labelled as rash given that the American was given the entire January window to sign his own players and to continue to build his ideas around Leeds. And with three top managerial candidates refusing to replace the former Whites boss, the Yorkshire side find themselves in a pickle.

With their next Premier League match just days away, Leeds could soon find themselves in a position where they will have to appoint a manager who could be a poor fit for the club, which might lead to an unlikely relegation back down to the Championship come the end of the season.
