Leeds United’s search for a new manager has taken a hit after Carlos Corberan, one of the club’s top managerial targets, signed a new contract with West Bromwich Albion.
The news was confirmed by the Baggies on Tuesday evening, and Corberan will now remain at the club until 2027. This comes after Jesse Marsch was sacked by the club on Monday.
Regardless of Leeds’ search for a new manager, it’s fair to say that Corberan has earned a new contract. He’s been an absolute revelation since joining West Brom.
Leeds United were reportedly looking at Corberan as a replacement for Marsch.
In fact, according to some reports, Corberan was Andrea Radrizzani’s first choice to step into the dugout at Elland Road.

The Spanish coach has recently bolstered his reputation in English football after a fine spell with West Brom, and he’s a manager Leeds know well after his work with Marcelo Bielsa for the Leeds U23 side a few years ago.
However, the club will now have to look elsewhere for a new manager after Corberan put pen to paper on a new deal with West Brom. The Baggies made the announcement via their official Twitter account using a cheeky clip from Happy Valley.
Luckily, Leeds have been linked with a number of other managerial candidates, including Rayo Vallecano’s Andoni Iraola, but it remains to be seen who will take the reins at Elland Road.
All in all, West Brom’s announcement that Corberan has signed a new contract is a huge blow for Leeds United. he 39-year-old looked every bit the ideal candidate to take the club forward, but he won’t be taking this job up anytime soon.
