Fabrizio Romano has teased that Ansu Fati could leave FC Barcelona in the summer amid recent interest from the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham in the Spanish wonderkid.

Speaking to CaughtOffside, the Italian transfer guru revealed that Barcelona are eager to keep hold of Fati for the future, however, there could be a situation where the La Liga giants have to sell the winger in order to recoup funds and to keep their payroll from going haywire.

Romano said about Fati’s situation at Barcelona: “My understanding is Barcelona insists they want to trust Fati for the present and future, but it’s one of the situations to watch in the summer because they also have to make money and improve the salaries situation.”

Mundo Deportivo had recently reported that both Arsenal and Tottenham are keeping tabs on Fati amid growing rumours in the Spanish and Catalan media that the 20-year-old could leave the Camp Nou in the summer, with the winger struggling for both fitness and form under Xavi Hernandez.

The Spanish international has made just seven starts in La Liga this season with the forward bagging six goal and three assists in all competitions. And with Raphinha starting to find his feet, there’s a growing chance that Fati could actually leave Barcelona in the summer.

Indeed, with a release clause of €1bn (£892m), it will take a huge sum for Barcelona to allow Fati to leave given just how talented and prized the youngster is. But, with the forward’s situation ever-changing, Arsenal or Tottenham could soon find themselves with a chance of signing the youngster.

Fati will be crazy to leave Barcelona even with irregular minutes

Being handed the no. 10 shirt after the departure of Messi in 2021, great expectations were placed on Fati having broken numerous records as a teenager for both Barcelona and Spain. And whilst the forward has lost his way a bit due to injuries and a lack of form, the youngster would be crazy to quit the La Liga side this summer.

After all, Fati is still only 20-years-old and will likely be given chances to shine in the coming season, and with Xavi banking on a youth-led approach to his tenure as Barcelona manager, the Spanish international is at the best club possible to develop his game at and to eventually become a regular.
