Fabrizio Romano has stated that there is a chance that Newcastle United target Ivan Toney could leave Brentford in the summer, with the striker continuing to attract interest from Premier League clubs.
Speaking to CaughtOffisde, the Italian journalist revealed that the 26-year-old forward could be on the move at the end of this season following on from the Mirror reporting that Newcastle are one of several top-flight English sides interested in signing Toney.
Romano said when asked if a possible transfer is on the cards this summer for the Bees talisman: “There will be a chance to leave for Ivan Toney in the summer but only if the right proposal will arrive, Brentford will not sell for a ‘normal” price.”
With 13 goals and three assists in the Premier League this season, Toney has once again been one of the most consistent goalscorers in the division for Brentford this campaign, and it’s no wonder why the west London side could now be open to selling their star striker.

Indeed, with Newcastle likely in the market for an attacker to replace Callum Wilson in the long-term, Toney could be the perfect option for Eddie Howe’s side, with the forward himself likely to be keen on a move back to the Premier League club that originally signed him back in 2015.
However, even if Newcastle don’t make a move for Toney, the decision to leave Brentford should be one that the attacker has already made given his current relationship with supporters, with a change of club ideal for the attacker and possible for the Bees themselves.
Toney should leave Brentford this summer regardless of Newcastle interest

Toney’s form on the pitch this season has been nothing short of impressive, with the striker once again proving his quality with Brentford and currently looking on course to hit 20 goals in the Premier League. Yet for the player himself, who Thomas Frank lauded as ‘unbelievable’, a departure from west London could be beneficial.
Even if a return to Newcastle doesn’t materialise, Toney has more than earnt a move to a bigger club this summer, and with Brentford likely to cash in on their star asset at the peak of his powers, the Bees could move on to their next stage as a Premier League club.
