Leeds United are currently searching for a new manager after sacking Jesse Marsch following a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.

The Whites are now facing the serious threat of relegation in the Premier League and they need to make an inspired appointment to save their season.

Former Leeds boss, Neil Warnock, has thrown a fresh hat into the ring by suggesting Mauricio Pochettino as a potential option for the club.

Speaking to talkSPORT (7/2/23 8:15AM), Warnock said that hiring Pochettino could be a good shout.

Warnock stated that Pochettino doesn’t need the money, adding that Leeds could provide Pochettino with a fresh new challenge rather than just another job.

Go for Pochettino

Warnock discussed the idea of Pochettino managing Leeds.

“Somebody mentioned Pochettino, and I think that would be good. From his point of view he doesn’t need the money. That would be a great challenge, it’s a massive club and sometimes it’s not all about money for these managers, so that would be a good shout,” Warnock said.

Could they get him?

While hiring Pochettino does sound like a good idea, it may not be the most realistic suggestion.

Indeed, while many would love to see the ex-PSG boss in the Elland Road dugout, moving to Leeds, with all due respect, is a step down for Pochettino.

This is a manager who is rated very highly within the game, he’s managed in a Champions League final before, and he’ll want to do so again.

Pochettino would undoubtedly be a fantastic appointment, but one has to imagine that he’s aiming higher than Leeds right now.
