CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs has told Give Me Sport that Tottenham are “very interested” in replacing Hugo Lloris with Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford – even more so if Sean Dyche is unable to keep the Toffees in the top tier.

Lloris, 36, has put mistakes against Arsenal in the North London derby and then against Manchester City in the 4-2 loss behind him – to keep two consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League. 1-0 wins over Fulham, and then City again.

But the overriding belief is that, after Spurs solved their right wing-back issues with the signing of Pedro Porro, the next priority is to strengthen their goalkeeper and centre-back options. Lloris is out of contract in June 2024 at Tottenham.

Playing a huge 443 games for Spurs, Lloris has 151 clean sheets to his name – securing his 150th at Fulham. A landmark that went under the radar with Kane equalling Jimmy Greaves’ tally. A record he broke against City on Sunday evening.

Bought for £30million by Everton, it is unclear how much the Toffees would want for England’s no.1. He is a better goalkeeper since his move to Everton, but his contract ends in 2024. Jacobs says Spurs and Chelsea are very interested.

Even more, if Everton are relegated from the Premier League to the Championship: “He is likely to be a highly sought-after name, especially if Everton were to go down. Tottenham are very interested, but Chelsea could be there as well.”

Jacobs: Tottenham very interested in replacing Lloris with Pickford

Pickford is more than likely to go in the summer. Even if Everton stay up, Pickford has eclipsed a club fighting at the bottom of the Premier League. He is a goalkeeper that is easily worthy of European football at a top-six side.

Chelsea could do with a goalkeeper, replacing the inconsistent duo of Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga. But offloading one or even both would have to be done before signing Pickford. Spurs will find selling Lloris much easier.

There has been interest from French clubs, most notably his boyhood side OGC Nice. With his contract running down, it will be easier to find a new club for Lloris than Chelsea will find in selling Mendy and Kepa. Pickford could join Spurs.
