Clinton Morrison says Arsenal transfer target and Napoli’s thriving striker, Victor Osimhen, would ’suit’ Graham Potter’s Chelsea in the summer transfer market.

The former Crystal Palace player added that ‘big clubs are watching’ Osimhen, who is perhaps the deadliest forward in the world right now.

It has been over 30 years since Napoli, one of Italy’s most famous clubs, won the Serie A title. A certain legendary figure in Diego Maradona was at the peak of his powers the last time they lifted that elusive crown.

And, unless they slip up Newcastle United and Kevin Keegan style, then those in Naples will be lining the streets soon because they will be champions of Italy.

Luciano Spalletti’s side have a 13-point lead at the top of the table, with Osimhen having 16 from 17 league matches, including scoring in five games in a row, plus a brace against Spezia Calcio over the weekend.

Teams in the Premier League are possibly sounding out the 24-year-old for a possible summer transfer, including Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

But they probably won’t be the only ones, as Morrison thinks Chelsea could do with a player like him because they don’t have an out-and-out number nine, as he told Sky Sports News (04/02/23 at 12:30 pm).

“They spent all that money and they don’t have a natural number nine that can put the ball in the net,” said Morrison.

“Victor Osimhen, the boy at Napoli, I do like. I think there are a lot of big clubs watching him. I think he could suit Chelsea.”

OSIMHEN SHOULD STAY PUT

The calls will be coming in during these next few months and clubs will be lining up to sign Osimhen.

It’s going to be tempting for the all-action forward to move, but the wise call would be to stay put.

He would still be playing on a regular basis for a young, vibrant, fearless and ruthlessly attacking side that is only getting better.

Plus, Italian sides haven’t had any potluck in the Champions League in recent years, well, if Napoli can continue to build their squad, then, as well as this season, they have every chance to shout loudest and win domestic football’s biggest trophy.
