According to German journalist Christian Falk in CaughtOffSide, Jesse Marsch’s Leeds United are interested in signing Konstantinos Mavropanos, a player Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal sold.

The report has claimed that Leeds wanted to sign Mavropanos from VfB Stuttgart in the January transfer window and remain interested in securing the services of the former Arsenal central defender.

The West Yorkshire club reportedly held talks over a transfer in January, but the Greece international decided not to make the move to Elland Road.

However, Leeds are still interested in the 25-year-old and could make a move again at the end of the season, according to the report.

Back in England?

Konstantinos Mavropanos is a former Arsenal defender, and it is very interesting that Leeds United want to bring the Greece international back to England.

The defender could not really make an impact at the Gunners and made a handful of appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal.

In the end, the Gunners decided to offload Mavropanos permanently in the summer of 2022 after he had loan spells at FC Nürnberg and Stuttgart.

Arsenal got £3 million in transfer fees for the defender (The Sun).

Now, Stuttgart are a big club in Germany, but Leeds are massive and are playing in the Premier League.

If Leeds do not get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season, then they could be able to convince Mavropanos to make the move to Elland Road.
