Danny Simpson has backed Liverpool to sign Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha in the summer on a free transfer, as he also threw Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United into the hat, as he told Stadium Astro.
The former right-back added that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool need a player of Zaha’s ilk now, as they continue to struggle in the Premier League.
Whilst Simpson also feels, added with Marcus Rashford playing the number nine role, both he and Zaha would bring some serious firepower to Manchester United’s forward line.

Those at Old Trafford have been here before with the said player, then just out of his teen years, signed for the club on a £15 million deal in 2015 (Independent). He was Sir Alex Ferguson’s last signing.
Six months later, the Scotsman retired, with David Moyes entering the building and Manchester United’s decline, including Zaha’s struggles, beginning to take effect.
After a total of four appearances in Manchester, before being sold back to Palace in 2015, the now-30-year-old resumed the title of ‘flop status’, but could he change that all by producing the goods at his next club, that’s if he decides to leave Palace in the summer.
“He can go wherever he wants, especially on a free-contract,” said Simpson. “I think Wilf plays better when he is the main man.
“He came to Man United, I know he was a lot younger, but if he goes to another top four or top six team, then he’s not going to be the main man, so it will be interesting to see where he goes.
“I think someone like Liverpool could do with him, at the moment because it’s not happening for them.
“I would bring him back here (Old Trafford). You have Marcus Rashford as a number nine and Wilfried on the left. That’s some firepower as well.”

ZAHA DESERVES ONE MORE SHOT
The circumstances involving Zaha’s move to Man United were unfortunate. He joined at the wrong time, it’s simple as that. The club’s decline since then is proof of that.
Either way, he deserves one more shot at the big time and playing for a team in Europe.
It wouldn’t make sense for him to sign Liverpool because, after Cody Gakpo’s arrival in January, they don’t need forwards, but midfield players.
As for Man United, whilst another forward would be of good use to ten Hag, whilst Zaha’s explosive nature suits the Dutchman’s style of play, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Manchester-based club opt against signing the Ivory Coast star again, even if it’s for nothing.
