Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart praises what Oh Hyeon-Gyu will bring to Parkhead following his transfer from Suwon Samsung Bluewings. Ange Postecoglou signed the striker this January.

The Hoops paid his K-League side £2.5m to sign Oh on a five-year contract. The 21-year-old caught Postecoglou’s eye scoring 14 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions last year. His performances in 2022 also led to his senior South Korea debut in November.

Postecoglou has already fielded Oh in two of Celtic’s Premiership matches with cameos for 23 minutes so far. He featured off the Bhoys’ bench at Dundee United and then at home to Livingston. But the forward is yet to open his account with a first goal in green-and-white.

Oh has faced a rapid start at Celtic with the Glasgow giants’ matches coming thick and fast since his transfer. The Hoops met Dundee United four days after the Namyangju, Gyeonggi native arrived in Scotland. Celtic then only had two days off before the visit of Livingston.

St Johnstone are next up in Celtic’s hectic schedule on Sunday before Oh has a first week-long break at Parkhead. Hart also admits the packed calendar has limited what chances Oh has enjoyed to grow accustomed to life in Postecoglou’s team and adapt to life with Celtic.

Oh has inspired confidence in Hart following his transfer from Suwon in January

An eight-minute cameo against Dundee United was not long enough for Oh to show what he will bring to Celtic. But the forward gave a glimpse into his potential with a dangerous delivery into Daizen Maeda. His 15-minute run out against Livingston was much the same.

But Hart admits Oh has been the talk of the Celtic dressing room since the striker’s transfer from Suwon. The goalkeeper also believes the young attacker made a positive impression during his early efforts. So, Hart is confident that Oh has a lot to offer Celtic going forward.

“He is young, really enthusiastic, powerful and technically good,” Hart said, via quotes by the Daily Record. “Speaking to the boys, we are as much fans as everyone else when it comes to new signings. You sometimes take your teammate hat off and discuss people.

“I know people have mentioned how sharp he is [and] how tough he is to keep a hold of. Look, we don’t get a whole lot of time to train at the moment with the schedule. But I think he’s really going to bring something special to the club.”
