Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has been discussing some of Tottenham’s late January transfer plans and a potential move for Davinson Sanchez.
According to the journalist, Tottenham were willing to sell Sanchez in the January window, but a deal never came to fruition.
Spurs don’t have the most depth at centre-half, so it is interesting to hear that they were willing to let their £42m signing leave the club at this juncture without any potential replacement lined up.

Sanchez was on the market
The journalist shared what he knows about Sanchez.
“In terms of potential deals that didn’t go through. I know that towards the end Spurs were willing to let Lucas Moura and Davinson Sanchez go. That was more contract related. With Davinson Sanchez he only has 18 months left on his contract,” Gold said.
“Sanchez just captained the side in the FA Cup and played quite well and if either of them were to go they’d have to be replaced. It would be difficult to find a guaranteed Premier League player to replace Sanchez. He makes mistakes, sometimes silly ones, but I also think he’s far better than people give him credit for.”
Gone in the summer
One has to imagine that Sanchez is now entering his final few months as a Spurs player.
The Colombian is about to enter the final year of his Spurs contract, and this will be the last chance the north London club have to cash in on him.
The fact that Tottenham were willing to sell Sanchez last month says it all, he’s not a part of the club’s long-term plans, and with a centre-back high on the transfer agenda in the summer, you have to imagine that the clock is ticking on Sanchez’s Spurs career.
