Fabio Paratici has given a long-winded interview to Tottenham Hotspur’s website and discussed his side’s move to sign Pedro Porro – claiming Spurs were looking at the new signing even before Spurs played against him in the summer.
Porro, 23, has joined the club in a deal that will see Spurs pay an initial £5million – and then a further £39million to get him permanently. The Spain star has joined on a loan deal, with an obligation to buy. He will sign a deal until 2028.
It is a deal that took the duration of the entire month of January. But in the final 10 minutes of the window, Spurs did get it done – announcing as much on their social media channels. Porro could make his debut against his old side.
Spurs welcome Manchester City to London on Sunday. Paratici commented on the signing of Porro. He says that Spurs were actually keen on Porro in the summer, even before Spurs played against Sporting in the Champions League.

“He is an international player who in the last two or three seasons played in European competition, played for Spain, so he is a player that has different skills that we didn’t have before. Porro has a lot of quality,” Paratici told the Spurs site.
“He is explosive so we are very, very happy and excited to sign him. We were following him even in the last summer but we couldn’t buy him so we followed and then were lucky that he played against us so we could see him.”

What a signing Porro is. Spurs have identified that the weak link in their side was the right wing-back role. They have addressed it, and in comes Porro. A player who is of a good age, supreme quality and solves the lack of quality.
His arrival has seen Djed Spence go out on loan to Rennes, alongside Joe Rodon. Matt Doherty was released in order to allow a move to Atletico Madrid. So, Porro comes in to compete with Emerson Royal for a place on the right flank.
