Super-agent, Kia Joorabchian, who represents Philippe Coutinho has admitted that he could still leave Aston Villa, as there is plenty of time left in the Brazilian transfer market.

After a bright start to life at Villa Park for the £125,000-a-week attacker, once described as ‘unreal by Emi Martinez (via Amazon Prime) constant underwhelming displays have led to him starting a mere 6 Premier League matches this season.

With Unai Emery clearly not fancying the former Barcelona attacker, an exit seemed inevitable. However, Sky Sports News had reported that Corinthians had no interest in signing him.

“We will see! There is still a long way to go in the Brazilian market. Let’s see what happens”, he told Globo Esporte.

Keeping this latest revelation in mind, the ex-Liverpool hero may be not be in Birmingham for much longer.

In our view: This is a lesson for Aston Villa not to blindly chase big names

From the very minute that the Brazilian international was linked with a switch with the Villains, potential redemption arcs were written, as many were lost in the romanticism of him working under Steven Gerrard.

Cut to just over a year of Coutinho being at Aston Villa and his agent is openly looking for an exit door for his client.

Clearly, things have not worked out to say the least and the image of the silky midfielder gliding past opponents and putting the ball into the back of the net is a thing of the past; proving that Villa truly lacked foresight while chasing his signature.

As Philippe Coutinho looks set to depart Aston Villa, after his agent finds him the right Brazilian club, they must remember that being tempted by short-term success instead of assessing smart targets is a shortcut never worth taking.
