Kevin Campbell has praised Tottenham Hotspur’s deadline day capture of Pedro Porro by claiming that he is a ‘really good signing’ for Antonio Conte’s side.
The Highbury legend added that Porro, who joins on an initial loan deal from Sporting Lisbon, is going to elevate Tottenham’s starting XI.
A right-sided wing-back by trade, Spurs fans and Conte will be hoping the 23-year-old comes in to fix a problem area for the team.

When Porro does eventually get his minutes as a right wing-back, he will be the fourth bonafide player that Conte has used in that position, after the now-departed Matt Doherty, the loaned-out Djed Spence and the survivor Emerson Royal.
The hope is that Porro, who was outstanding for Sporting against Spurs in the Champions League this season, changes his new side’s fortunes in that role, as they push for a top-four finish once more.
Former striker Kevin Campbell, whilst taking his Arsenal hat off, certainly thinks Porro will bring a high-level of quality to that role, as he told Sky Sports News (31/01/23).
“Not really (on if he’s surprised Tottenham left Porro deal late),” said Campbell. “I think what Tottenham have to do is improve their starting XI to try and challenge for that Champions League because that’s what it’s all about for Spurs.
“Porro is a really good player. Obviously, you have to move and shake some players out. But Porro coming in will be a really good signing.
“You could say they could (Tottenham doing more business now than in the summer), but trying to get the players you want right now is very difficult.
“Being able to get one of the players, like Porro in, is a big tick in the box and you just have to roll the dice sometimes and get these players in, £39 million is a lot of money, but he’s someone that could improve their first XI.”

WILL CONTE SIGN A NEW DEAL?
Just like last January, the players Antonio Conte wanted through the door have arrived. He has been backed once more, even if the north London club nearly made a mess of it.
But his contract is heading to an end in the summer, so will he stay?
This Porro deal has to be questioned if he does end up leaving because, what’s the point of backing the current man in the dugout, if he’s not here beyond the summer?!
