Darren Bent thinks Moussa Dembele would be a healthy signing for Sean Dyche’s Everton on transfer deadline day, as he told talkSPORT (31/01/23).

The former Premier League striker added that Dembele is a ‘fantastic’ striker, with his contract at Ligue 1 side, Lyon, coming to an end at the end of the season.

The arrival of Alexandre Lacazette in the summer has reduced the former Celtic man’s game time, with many Premier League clubs looking at his talents.

At 26, with a strong goalscoring pedigree across Europe, including 21 in 30 last term, Dembele would be a top purchase for many teams outside of European competitions.

Well, Everton, who sold Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United, are very desperate to add players to their squad with the 11 pm Tuesday deadline edging ever closer.

Dembele has been spoken about, but when former Villa and Tottenham striker Darren Bent was told that it’s not going to happen following a late move from the Toffees, he issued the following response.

“It says here, maybe Moussa Dembele was a rumour,” said Bent. “That would be a good striker.

“Was he?! (On Dembele being offered to many teams). He’s a goalscorer. He hasn’t been prolific this season. But last season, he was fantastic.”

EVERTON IN THE MUD

What a welcome for Sean Dyche!

When he was appointed Everton manager, he already knew that he was walking into a mess. Gordon was out of the door, but surely, he was going to be replaced?!

Well, with the clock ticking towards the 11 pm deadline, it seems they might not even sign anyone at all.

It just further proves that the powers that be at Goodison Park shouldn’t be in their positions and the words ‘sack the board’ will only be heard louder.
