Arsenal are now set to sign Jorginho from Chelsea on deadline day after agreeing on a fee for his transfer. The midfielder has also now agreed to personal terms to join the Gunners.
That is according to The Athletic, which reports Arsenal have agreed to pay Chelsea £12m for Jorginho. The Gunners turned to the 31-year-old after Brighton & Hove Albion refused to sell Moises Caicedo as Jorginho is out of contract on a £110k-a-week deal in this summer.
Jorginho will now travel to Arsenal’s London Colney training ground to formalise a transfer subject to a medical. Chelsea have given the Italy international permission to move across the capital as Gunners sporting director Edu strives to hand Mikel Arteta a new midfielder.

Arteta is desperate for Edu to secure a deal for a midfielder after Mohamed Elneny picked up a knee injury. The Egypt international suffered a knock in training and now faces a long spell on the sidelines. His absence removes key depth in the deep-lying position at Arsenal.
Jorginho will move to north London on an initial contract to June 2024 but with an optional further 12 months. Arteta has driven the Gunners’ interest in his transfer from Chelsea to supplement Albert Sambi Lokonga as the only proven senior cover for Thomas Partey now.

Jorginho will add experience to Arsenal with a transfer from Chelsea
Chelsea, meanwhile, have not stood in Jorginho’s way as they looked to secure a fee for a player otherwise leaving for free this June. He has been at Stamford Bridge since his £50m, rising to £57m after add-ons, transfer from Serie A side Napoli on a five-year deal in 2018.
Jorginho has also remained a key player in west London this term with 18 Premier League appearances. He has further started in 15 games and captained the Blues in several games. So, the 46-cap Italy ace will now add extra experience in a role Arteta is short on numbers.
