Tottenham Hotspur are signing Chelsea striker Jude Soonsup-Bell – and he has even rejected an offer from Manchester City.
That’s according to The London Evening Standard, who claim that Tottenham are closing in on Soonsup-Bell.
It’s stated that Tottenham have agreed a fee with Chelsea and Soonsup-Bell will be completing a medical with Spurs.
Tottenham won’t be paying a big fee for Soonsup-Bell given that his contract is set to expire this summer.
The plan is for 19-year-old Soonsup-Bell to join the Spurs Under-21 ranks before hopefully stepping up to the first team.
Tottenham would even agree to loan Soonsup-Bell out next season to try and aid his development.
Soonsup-Bell is understood to have had a similar offer on the table from Manchester City, but he has picked Spurs instead.
That will feel like a big coup for Tottenham given that City have enormous pull for young players who fancy working under Pep Guardiola.
Who is Tottenham-bound Jude Soonsup-Bell?
Soonsup-Bell actually started his career with Swindon Town before being snapped up by Chelsea at under-13 level.
Whilst Soonsup-Bell actually began as a midfielder, he was converted to play as a striker when he joined Chelsea.
The teenager’s Under-18 record is outstanding, smashing 23 goals in 25 games for Chelsea’s Under-18’s according to Transfermarkt.
Under-21 goals have been a little harder to come by with Soonsup-Bell only finding the net five times in 40 appearances.
Spurs will now hope to see Soonsup-Bell rediscover that goalscoring touch with a move to North London.
Eligible to play for Thailand through his Thai grandfather, Soonsup-Bell has been a regular for England through Under-15 to Under-19 levels.
A young player with bags of potential, Tottenham will hope to see Soonsup-Bell become a star alongside fellow young forward Will Lankshear, who joined over the summer.
