Everton want Viktor Gyokeres and a late move for the Coventry City striker seemingly has the approval of new boss Sean Dyche.

That’s according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who has been speaking to Give Me Sport.

Jones claims that new manager Dyche – who was only confirmed as Everton boss a few hours ago – is ‘onside’ with the idea of going for Gyokeres.

It’s suggested that Everton plan to offer £18million for Gyokeres and Dyche has given that plan the green light.

However, £18million may not be enough to tempt Coventry into selling ahead of the transfer deadline.

That’s because The Sun’s Alan Nixon reports that Coventry now want £25million for Gyokeres and will not budge from their asking price.

That leaves Everton in danger of missing out on Gyokeres even if Dyche does fancy bringing him to Goodison Park.

Everton target Viktor Gyokeres has been in great form for Coventry City

Everton need a goalscorer and Gyokeres has been doing just that for Coventry.

The Swedish hitman has scored 12 times in 28 Championship games this season whilst also notching four assists.

This continues Gyokeres being a real goalscoring force for Coventry having racked up 17 goals and five assists in 45 outings last term.

A move to the Premier League feels somewhat inevitable for Gyokeres at some point, whether it’s this month or further down the line.

The 24-year-old has been with a Premier League before having joined Brighton and Hove Albion from IF Brommapojkarna in 2018.

Gyokeres didn’t get much of a chance with Brighton but has now proven his quality with Coventry.

Branded ‘unbelievable’ by boss Mark Robins, Gyokeres is one of the top strikers in the Championship and Dyche would seemingly fancy working with him.

Whether Everton can bridge that gap to the £25million asking price remains to be seen though, with time ultimately running out.
