Football website 90Min claim Arsenal are preparing a third offer to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo before the end of the January window worth a huge £75million – which would make the Brighton star Arsenal’s record signing.

Caicedo, 21, missed Sunday’s FA Cup clash against Liverpool with Brighton remaining stubborn in their bid to keep him at the club. That is despite Caicedo taking to social media with a statement, underlining his desire to join the Gunners.

TalkSPORT, among many other outlets, reported late on Sunday evening that Arsenal had seen a second bid of £70m rejected. It comes after Fabrizio Romano reported that an initial £60m bid was turned down. Now, a third is incoming.

90Min state that Arsenal are now preparing a third offer worth £75m. It would eclipse the club’s record signing in the form of Nicolas Pepe, who is widely-renowned to have cost £72m. Leicester’s Youri Tielemans is eyed as an alternative.

The Gunners are keen to bring in depth in the middle of the park after adding Leandro Trossard in attack, and more cover in the middle of the defence in the form of Jakub Kiwior. Caicedo is clearly the main target for the Gunners.

But Brighton look like they are going to win the battle to keep Caicedo, with 90Min stating that Brighton are unlikely to accept even an improved £75m offer. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next 30 hours of the window.

Whether Arsenal get a surprise reply from Brighton and a bid is agreed – or, they are forced to go after another player. Belgian ace Tielemans is listed as the next best, with his deal at the Foxes set to come to an end in June this year.
