Aston Villa left-back Alex Moreno has told Gerard Deulofeu on Instagram to ‘stay strong’ after the Udinese forward received the bad news that he has to undergo surgery.
The former Everton and Watford winger was the subject of transfer interest from Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, but this latest development has all but ended the 28-year-old’s hopes of returning to the Premier League this month.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano posted about the news on Twitter and how there is ‘no chance’ of a January transfer, after picking up a knee injury.

Villa are in need of a player of Deulofeu’s ilk, and with days left until the transfer window slams shut, it will be interesting to see what road they go down, if any.
So far, Moreno has arrived from Real Betis and Colombia’s highly-rated superstar striker, Jhon Duran, joined from MLS side, Chicago Fire.
Nonetheless, when Deulofeu spoke of his injury on IG, he shared how it’s another opportunity for him to ‘grow personally and professionally’ after being in such situations before.
In the comments section of his post, Alex Moreno, who came through the Barcelona ranks with Deulofeu, sent the following message: “Stay stronger brother! You will come back stronger.”
ANY LATE JANUARY TRANSFER MOVES FOR VILLA?
For a number of windows now, the Midlands outfit have known to be secretive about their dealings and pulling off a number of under-the-radar transfers.
With days left until the winter transfer window slams shut, could there be a few more tricks up Johan Lange’s sleeves?
Some Villa fans feel that they need a number eight, with presence and bite to their game. Added with another forward in the ilk of the ever-improving, Leon Bailey.
