Newcastle are interested in signing Jack Harrison from Leeds as Eddie Howe aims to improve his attacking options.

It was TEAMtalk who claimed that the Magpies admire the Leeds No.11 as they look to strengthen themselves this January, but there has now been a significant development which complicates the matter.

What’s the story?

Well, Leicester have now made a £20m bid for Harrison – according to The Athletic.

It remains to be seen how Leeds respond to the offer, with the Whites said to be considering the bid, while also weighing up a new contract for their No.11 as his current terms expire in less than 18 months.

The Athletic believe it is unclear what Harrison himself wants to do, while adding that Newcastle saw a bid rejected for him back in the summer.

Earlier today, the 26-year-old proved his worth to Jesse Marsch with a goal and an assist in the 3-1 FA Cup win over Accrington Stanley, which may tempt the American to keep him onboard for the rest of the season, at least.

So far this season, the Newcastle target has now scored two goals – while also providing seven assists – in 20 appearances for Leeds.

Newcastle may no longer be interested in Harrison

At the time of writing, Newcastle are close to announcing the £45m signing of Anthony Gordon from Everton.

The England Under-21 international plays in the same position as Harrison on the left wing, so it is possible that Howe may drop his interest in the Leeds No.11 now.

Of course, you could argue that he might want both, but with Allan Saint-Maximin also an option on the left flank, it now seems hard to believe that Newcastle will keep up their interest in Harrison.

Having said that, anything can happen in the transfer window, so be sure to keep an eye on the situation.
