Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie has taken to Twitter to report that Newcastle United have agreed a fee of £45m in total with Everton for Anthony Gordon – with a medical set to take place in the next 24 hours for the Toffees star.
Gordon, 21, turned up to training on Friday – after failing to show up on Wednesday and Thursday. It was a planned absence on Wednesday, but Thursday he was expected at Finch Farm. But on Friday, he did turn up to training.
Newcastle have been strongly linked this month – while Tottenham and Chelsea’s interest in him from the summer has remained. Gordon, who has a contract until June 2025 at Everton, is now likely to complete a Newcastle move.
That is after Downie reported that Newcastle and Everton have agreed on a fee worth £45million for the Everton talent. Reports earlier on Friday suggested that a deal was only £5million away. Now, a fee has been agreed for him.
It is believed that Gordon will now undergo a medical at Newcastle over the next 24 hours. Downie says that there is a ‘total agreement’ between Everton and Newcastle over a fee for Gordon. A fee of £45million will change hands.

Newcastle have options in the final third. Miguel Almiron has been superb on the left and Joelinton has been used on the right. Allan Saint-Maximin has dropped out of the side. Jacob Murphy and Ryan Fraser are all the options.
But Saint-Maximin is being linked with a £26m move to AC Milan – given his lack of game time. Part of that could be down to Newcastle looking to sign Gordon. A fee of £45m suits both, and is much fairer than the £60m fee touted.
