Southampton have reportedly had an offer rejected from Stade Rennais to sign star forward Kamaldeen Sulemana, with Everton also believed to be interested in the Ghana international.

According to L’Equipe, the Saints have had a €17m (£15m) bid turned down by the Ligue 1 giants for Sulemana, with PSV Eindhoven also having a offer rejected as Rennes look to keep hold of the African wonderkid this January despite growing interest in the youngster.

The 20-year-old winger is regarded by many as one of the best youth prospects in all of Europe, and the Daily Mail have recently reported that Sulemana is also a target for Everton, with the Toffees potentially also lining up an offer for the winger having missed out on Arnaut Danjuma to Tottenham.

Lauded as ‘extraordinary’ at former club FC Norsdjaelland, Sulemana has impressed since signing for Rennes last season, and now it seems likely that a Premier League move is in the pipeline for the Ghanaian prospect, with Southampton pushing hard to land the winger.

Indeed, Southampton have already spent big on wingers this January in the form of Croatian international Mislav Orsic, and adding Sulemana to Nathan Jones’ squad would be another huge sign of intent from the south coast Premier League side.

Yet with Rennes rejecting their latest offer for Sulemana, time is running out for Southampton to reach an agreement to sign the 20-year-old superstar, with Everton’s interest also a worry as the Merseyside club could now move for the Rennes star in the coming days.

At 20-years-old, Sulemana is a player with the world at his feet, with the youngster one of the most exciting talents in France and a forward who could thrive at one of the biggest clubs in football. Which is why Southampton must do all they can to sign the winger this January.

After all, Southampton are in need of some added pace and flair in their forward line, and with Sulemana, the Saints could acquire just that in a deal that could realistically help Jones in his push to keep the south coast side in the Premier League for next season.
