Everton want Hakim Ziyech and are prepared to spend £25million on signing the playmaker from Chelsea on a permanent basis.

That’s according to Sky Sports, who claim that Everton are looking to strike a permanent deal for Ziyech rather than a loan.

It’s stated that Chelsea are considering letting Ziyech go, which does make sense.

Ziyech hasn’t quite lived up to his billing since making a huge £33million move from Ajax back in 2020.

The 29-year-old now faces slipping down the pecking order after Chelsea snapped up new wingers in Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Mudueke.

Ziyech may feel that the time is right to leave Stamford Bridge and pursue first-team action elsewhere after nearly three years in West London.

Everton appear to be ready and waiting for Ziyech, but they’r’e far from alone in the race for his signature.

Everton must now take on Newcastle United for Hakim Ziyech

News of Everton’s interest in a cash deal comes after The Telegraph reported that Newcastle are keen to sign Ziyech.

Yet that report suggested that Newcastle’s recruitment team really like the idea of taking Ziyech on loan with a view to a permanent move.

That may not be quite as appealing as £25million in cash, even if some is based on add-ons and bonuses.

Chelsea may also prefer to deal with Everton because, even if the Blues are some way behind Newcastle this season, they figure to be top four rivals for years to come.

Ziyech could help Newcastle secure a top four place this season and Chelsea may want to try and slow down their rise.

Ziyech will have a say too though, and agreeing to sign for a team who could easily be playing in the Championship next season isn’t all that appealing.

This is a fascinating situation and Ziyech’s name could feature prominently in the final days of the transfer window.
