Danny Murphy has told TalkSPORT (Wednesday, 11.15AM) that Sean Dyche is the “perfect fit” for Everton to bring in and replace Frank Lampard for the second half of the season – and save the Toffees from suffering relegation.

Lampard was sacked by Everton on Monday after a dismal result against West Ham on the weekend. The 2-0 loss to David Moyes’ side saw the Merseyside side slip to 19th place in the Premier League. Everton look in real danger.

Not least, because of matters off the pitch. Farhad Moshiri continues to come under enormous scrutiny and despite the new Stadium, Everton’s Financial Fairplay and poor spending over the last few years is costing the club on the pitch.

Plenty of managers have been linked with the vacant hotseat, with just six days left in the January window. Marcelo Bielsa talks are ongoing, supposedly. Marcelino, Ralph Hasenhuttl and Thomas Frank are linked. Dyche is most likely.

Murphy told TalkSPORT: “I’d go Dyche. 100%. Knows the Premier League, knows the Championship. He would add structure. He’s got big broad shoulders, he can take the heat. He is the perfect fit for Everton right now.”

Murphy: Dyche is the perfect fit for Everton to replace Lampard

Murphy is right. Bringing in Bielsa would be a risk. His style of football, given Everton’s lack of quality, would be a huge decision and one that could easily backfire. Marcelino is unproven, while Hasenhuttl would hardly excite Toffees fans.

Frank is hardly going to leave Brentford for a move to Everton. But, Dyche is available, likely to be keen on a move to The Toffees and ideal for what they need right now. He is the best-suited manager in terms of staving off relegation.

Indeed, 51-year-old Dyche has also worked with both James Tarkowski and Dwight McNeil who are at Goodison Park. He knows how to get the best out of both. McNeil has been poor, and Tarkowski was woeful against West Ham.
