As claimed by Foot Mercato, Chelsea are set to launch a second bid for Lyon right-back, Malo Gusto in the region between £26 million and £35 million.

Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano has even stated that the 19-year-old is ‘open’ to joining Graham Potter’s side.

Furthermore, the personal terms regarding the speculated transfer have also been agreed.

And now, the Blues could take another step to secure the services of one of the most talented defenders in the world.

Last week, the French outlet had reported that Tottenham Hotspur were one of the clubs keen on signing the prodigy in January.

However, it seems as if Chelsea are hot on the heels of Malo Gusto with a ‘colossal’ second bid in the works after their initial £17.6 million bid was turned down by Lyon, according to Foot Mercato.

Additionally, it has been reported that the Ligue 1 outfit would be willing to sell their prized asset, as they are aware that his heart is set on signing on the dotted line for the West London side.

However, Lyon will try to resist the temptation to take the fee and run, as they do not have an able backup for the youngster.

Considering it has been widely claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing a right wing-back this month, the second bid Chelsea look set to make for Malo Gusto is a blow for them.

Tottenham could redeem themselves by sealing Porro deal

One of the transfer market’s worst kept secrets remains that Tottenham are aiming to complete a deal for Pedro Porro in January.

However, it has not been an easy task for Spurs to get the deal over the line.

Considering Porro is one of the most highly-rated right wing-backs himself, Tottenham should not be bothered by Chelsea potentially putting in a second bid to sign Malo Gusto if their prime target makes his way to Hotspur Way.
