Celtic look set to miss out on Aissa Laidouni with Union Berlin believed to be closing in on signing him – just days after landing Josip Juranovic.
Laidouni was one of the breakout stars of the World Cup.
Few really knew of Laidouni before the World Cup kicked off but the Ferencvaros star was outstanding for Tunisia.
Laidouni was incredibly combative as he celebrated clattering Christian Eriksen like he’d scored a goal.
The midfielder wasn’t just a destroyer though as he showed his ability on the ball throughout, even nutmegging Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga at one point.
Laidouni was hailed as ‘brilliant’ by pundit Danny Higginbotham and there have been clubs queueing up to sign him.

Celtic target Aissa Laidouni could now join Josip Juranovic at Union Berlin
Foot Mercato reported in December that Celtic were showing a real interest in signing Laidouni for around £3.5million.
The move hasn’t really advanced since then though and Celtic have instead signing Japanese midfielder Tomoki Iwata.
Celtic may still have kept close tabs on Laidouni but they may now see him go elsewhere.
Kicker report that Union Berlin are trying to sign Laidouni and the Bundesliga side are now ‘ahead of the game’ in trying to sign him.
It’s stated that Ferencvaros want to sell ‘as soon as possible’ and a deal for him to join Union could be done very soon.
This would of course mean that Laidouni joins forces with Josip Juranovic.
Croatian international Juranovic just left Celtic to join Union a few days ago, completing a move from Parkhead to the German capital.
Both Juranovic and Laidouni excelled in Qatar and Celtic may have had real hopes of seeing them play together in the famous green and white hoops.
Instead, it looks like they will become teammates in Germany with Union no doubt hoping for big impacts from both players.
