The biggest story in English football over the past three weeks has been the potential investment into the Premier League from Qatar Sports Investments.
It’s been widely reported that Tottenham Hotspur’s Daniel Levy has held talks with Nasser Al-Khelaifi over a potential investment into Spurs, while Bloomberg have claimed that both Liverpool and Manchester United are both on the Qataris’ radar.
The Athletic have now done a deep dive into the state of play regarding QSI and a potential buy-in to English football, and they’ve heard some interesting updates from their sources.
In fact, The Athletic claim to know which club is most likely to receive investment from the Qataris.
According to this report, Spurs are the likeliest team to partner with QSI after Levy’s talks with Al-Khelaifi.

Apparently, Levy is ready to sell up to 15 per cent of the north London club, but it will cost a pretty penny as the Spurs chairman reportedly values his club in the region of £2.5bn.
That means that a 15% stake in Spurs will set any potential investor back a cool £375m – a huge figure.
Tottenham may well be the likeliest club to receive this investment from QSI, but it still remains to be seen whether or not the Qataris do actually jump at this opportunity.
Regardless of their vast wealth. £375m is a massive sum to pay for 15% of a football club that has been going downhill for a number of years at this point.
From a business perspective, this isn’t the smartest of moves, the rise of Newcastle United and Arsenal as of late means that the Champions League qualification is becoming an ever more unassailable task for a club like Spurs, and you can’t justify that type of investment without the Champions League.
