Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has made contact with Sam Allardyce to come back to Everton and take charge of the Toffees following the departure of Frank Lampard, according to The Daily Mail.
The report has claimed that Moshiri contacted Allardyce to take charge of Everton even before the Toffees had sacked Lampard.
Everton announced the departure of the Chelsea legend on Monday.
Allardyce was the Everton manager during the 2017-18 season.
The Daily Mail have added that ‘there was a reluctance to go down the route of appointing the 68-year-old’.
Could Sam Allardyce be Everton’s solution?
In our view, hiring Sam Allardyce on a short-term contract may not be a bad idea for Everton.
Yes, we know that ‘Big Sam’ does not play pretty football.

And we know that Everton fans would not like the Englishman to be in charge of the first team for the long term.
However, for the rest of the season, the 68-year-old would be a brilliant manager for the Toffees.
When Allardyce was appointed the Everton manager in November 2017, the Toffees were 13th in the Premier League table.
The Englishman guided the Merseyside club to eighth in the standings at the end of the season.
Allardyce knows how to keep teams up in the Premier League and is an expert at working with average players and getting the best out of them.
