Whether you’re watching at home alone or with friends and family, you better make sure your best outfit is ready for the most glamorous night in the film fan’s calendar. It doesn’t matter whether you’re in attendance — the Academy Awards is a momentous annual occasion and the importance of the triumphs resonate through your screen.
The Oscars have always been eagerly anticipated, and offer audiences an opportunity to celebrate some of the previous year’s best movies.

On the other hand, the nominations across all categories were announced on Tuesday, January 24th 2023.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the long-anticipated sequel to Tony Scott’s 1986 classic was released in May 2022 and brought back Tom Cruise as the titular Maverick, tasking him with taking a small circle of TOPGUN graduates under his wing for a high-stakes mission.
It went on to become one of the highest-grossing movies of 2022 and was championed by critics and general audiences alike. As an all-around winner, let’s see if it continues a hot streak and soars to new heights at the Academy Awards ceremony.
‘It was my dream’
Working on Top Gun: Maverick couldn’t have been easy but Tom Cruise previously spoke to ScreenRant and was asked if he ever felt like his supporting cast was being pushed too hard:
“No, absolutely not. Absolutely not. Listen, the whole point of making films and the beauty of it is that you get to travel the world and see other cultures and be part of communities. To look and walk in someone else’s shoes and feel what they are [feeling]. Making movies, you’re constantly learning.”
He continued: “… you have to constantly work to become more and more competent in many different fields. And I want to tell them, that’s the beauty of making movies. That’s why I’ve always pushed my films to go international, around the world and in different communities. And to be part of that right from the beginning. It was my dream.”
