Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenburg has reported that Bayern Munich midfielder, Ryan Gravenberch is not headed to Liverpool on loan in January.

The rumour mill regarding to the Dutchman potentially joining Jurgen Klopp’s side this month went into overdrive online after the player’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta was spotted at Anfield during the side’s 0-0 draw against Chelsea.

Before the 20-year-old, labeled as ‘technically gifted’ by Julien Laurens (via the Daily Star) joined the German giants for £22 million (GOAL) in the summer, it was widely speculated that he could sign for the Reds.

However, it seems as if even a loan switch to Liverpool in January does not seem on the cards for Ryan Gravenberch.

This is a blow for the Merseyside-based club, considering they lack an all-encompassing midfielder at the club.

Barring Thiago, there is simply no presence in the middle of the park in the side who can even confidently claim that they are in form.

Ryan Gravenberch is yet to start a single Bundesliga game for Bayern this season, which seemed to have also made many believe that a loan to Liverpool in January would make perfect sense for all parties.

However, a renowned journalist has now poured cold water over these rumours.

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenburg reports that Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch will not join Liverpool on loan in the remaining days of the January transfer window.

“It’s decided and no doubt: He has to stay at Bayern! No transfer in January. Within the club they still believe in him. A loan to Liverpool or to another club is no topic”, he tweeted.

It seems as if Klopp and Co. will have to continue their search for a brand-new midfielder.

As exciting as Ryan Gravenberch heading to Anfield on a loan switch in January reads on paper, it seems next to impossible now.
