Richard Keys slammed Mikel Arteta’s actions on the touchline during Arsenal’s 3-2 win over Manchester United by stating on Twitter that there was ‘no need’, whilst Martin Tyler compared it to Tottenham Hotspur boss, Antonio Conte and Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp.

The beIN SPORTS presenter has previously been outspoken about Arteta on the sidelines for Arsenal and coming out of his technical area during moments of the game, well, he did it again in the first half against Manchester United and was instantly booked by referee, Anthony Taylor.

When Arteta was booked, Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler shared that there was a meeting between officials two weeks ago regarding the behaviour of managers, as he mentioned Tottenham Hotspur boss, Antonio Conte and Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp.

Whilst Tottenham’s results and performances are going down the drain, Conte is known to be all-action on the side of the pitch, whilst Klopp was recently sent off by the very same referee this season.

It happened during Liverpool’s win over Manchester City pre-World Cup, but whilst the German was shown red, he avoided a touchline ban.

Well, Arteta has been in the spotlight of late and this is what Martin Tyler had to say about the former midfielder on Sky Sports (22/01//23), including Richard Keys’ tweets.

“Well, two weeks ago I can tell you that there was a meeting,” said Tyler. “I think at St Geroge’s Park, amongst officials, about dugout behaviour by managers.

“We mentioned it because last week we had Antonio Conte, who has got a bit of previous in this aspect and Mikel Arteta.

“You say it’s fair enough, but it’s not fair enough, in truth, because we have seen Jurgen Klopp get sent off. It is an emotional game, we don’t want to take that away from those down on the touchline. But there are technical areas you are meant to stay in.”

DON’T TAKE THE PASSION AWAY

Lots of Premier League managers come out of their technical area and many are also animated when they feel decisions go against them.

That’s can’t be taken away, whether you are Arteta or Conte.

If the officials feel they are crossing the line, then book the individual or send them off, that’s why the rules are there.

Against Newcastle United that didn’t happen, so if there is an issue with Arteta’s actions, then have an issue with the rules and officials, not the individual.
