The indie rock supergroup, which was formed in 2018, consists of Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus who only released one EP five years ago.

On Wednesday (January 18), the band announced their debut studio album called the record which is due to be released on March 31, sending fans wild.

Fans think new song is about Emily Bannon

As soon as they heard the song, fans began speculating the track is about the 28-year-old’s friend and alleged lover from the name in the very obvious title.

When you listen to the lyrics, it’s clear that the track is about a past relationship, with lyrics like “Emily I’m sorry, baby/ You know how I get when I’m wrong”.

“Emily, forgive me, can we/ Make it up as we go along,” the apologetic and reflecting song continues.

At the end of the track, the lyrics reference an age, saying “I’m twenty-seven and I don’t know who I am/ But I know what I want”.

Phoebe is currently 28, but she would have been 27 when she wrote the song, further hinting it could be about her and Emily Bannon.

HITC and GRV Media have reached out to the singer’s representatives for comment.
