Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is reportedly interested in replacing Antonio Conte at Tottenham, with the German under consideration to be appointed if Spurs were to sack the Italian coach.
According to the Evening Standard, Tuchel would be open to taking over Tottenham amid rumours that the north London side could dismiss Conte following a poor run of form in the Premier League that currently sees Spurs outside the top-four.
Tuchel was sacked by Chelsea in September and has since enjoyed a break from football. However, as per the report, the former PSG and Borussia Dortmund manager is now ready to return to the touchline, with an appointment at Tottenham now on the cards.
Spurs are no strangers to appointing former Chelsea managers, with three of Tottenham’s last six coaches all once being employed by their west London rivals. Yet with Tuchel available, the German could be the best candidate to replace Conte this year.

Indeed, the Italian’s contract with Tottenham expires at the end of this season. And given the current climate at Spurs, there’s a strong chance that Conte will once again call it quits on a top-flight job, potentially opening the door for Tuchel to take over in the summer.
However, given how Tuchel was sacked by Chelsea and infamously fell out with both the PSG and Dortmund board, there’s a strong chance that the German manager, just like Conte, will be a flashy name for Spurs who doesn’t push the club in any real meaningful direction.
Tottenham will be making a big mistake in appointing Tuchel

As mentioned, Tuchel’s relationships with previous clubs and their higher-ups hasn’t been pretty, to say the least. And given how Daniel Levy operates Tottenham, there is an almost 100% chance that the German manager will fall out with the Spurs chairman at some stage.
Whilst Tuchel will be a big name and a manager who can get results out of this current Tottenham squad, Spurs themselves risk repeating themselves with Conte, who has arguably done little to take the club to a new level despite the Italian’s steller reputation.
