Liverpool finally secured their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a narrow 1-0 win over Wolves on Tuesday, thanks to Harvey Elliott’s barnstorming goal – but Luis Garcia has heaped huge praise on Reds star Stefan Bajcetic.

Having drawn 2-2 in the first clash at Anfield, Liverpool were looking to end their run of woeful form to book their place in the next round at Molineux. They did just that, with talent Elliott slamming home a 25-yard effort early on.

The scoreline remained the same, despite intense Wolves pressure. Matheus Cunha, Adama Traore and Ruben Neves all had chances. Bajcetic, 18, was handed only his ninth senior Liverpool appearance – and only his third start for the Reds.

Sitting at the base of a midfield behind Thiago and Naby Keita, Bajcetic starred. He came off after 75 minutes after another excellent display, with fans excited about his potential. Clearly, Liverpool icon Garcia is impressed by Bajcetic.

The Spain youth star has seriously impressed when given the chance by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp this season. Whether it is his goal against Aston Villa, or his ability to pass in transition. He has a contract at Anfield until the summer of 2025.

Can Bajcetic be the future of Liverpool’s midfield? Without a doubt. He has the potential, the energy, the footballing brain to go as high as he wants. But, it is whether he can get the game time needed at Anfield to realise that potential.

Fabinho sits ahead of him in the pecking order in his favoured position. But there is a chance for Bajcetic to get game time – with Fabinho’s poor form might allow him to come in. The future of Spain and Liverpool? Maybe, just maybe.
