Italian outlet CM claim that Everton are ‘above all’ in the race to sign Serie A striker Beto from Udinese – who has been in good form in Italy’s top tier, but the Toffees face competition in the race for the Portuguese striker for Fiorentina.
Beto, 24, joined Udinese in the summer of 2021 from Portuguese side Portimonense. Initially on loan, he scored 11 goals in 29 games in his first season. That form has continued this time around, with another seven goals in 19 games.
A decent record given he is playing in a bottom-half Serie A side. Udinese do not create an enormity of chances, but Beto is making do with the ammunition he is given. They have improved, sitting in eighth with 26 goals in 18 games.
Such form is attracting interest in the 6ft 4in striker. Everton are keen to bring in a forward before the close of play in less than a fortnight and have identified Beto as a target. The report says they are ‘above all’, including Fiorentina.

Everton transfer news: ‘Above all’ in race to sign Udinese striker Beto
The Toffees really need more fire power if they are to stand any chance of avoiding a relegation scrap. Dom Calvert-Lewin is back from injury but the England international is going to need time to get back to his excellent best this term.
Neal Maupay has been poor since his move to Everton from Brentford. The Toffees need a different type of striker, one that can win them games – and bring the likes of Demarai Gray, Anthony Gordon and other attackers into play.
Beto is that. Mostly, a target man, he is able to create chances for his teammates and get his team up the pitch. But also, he can score different types of goals. Still young, FCInter1908 report that he could cost as much as £26m.
