Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Liverpool’s transfer plans and their hunt for a new midfield player.

The Reds are in the market for a new midfielder, and as many will know, the player they want more than anyone else is Jude Bellingham.

It’s been reported on countless occasions that Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan of Bellingham and wants to bring him to Anfield, but according to Romano, he’s not the only midfielder the Reds really want to sign.

Indeed, the Italian journalist says that Matheus Nunes is another option for Liverpool, and interestingly, he’s not viewed as an alternative to Bellingham, instead, the Reds’ plan is to hopefully sign both players.

Liverpool want Nunes and Bellingham

The journalist shared what he knows about these two young stars.

“For the summer, Bellingham is the top target. But Liverpool are in the race with Man City, with Real Madrid, with Chelsea, so it’s going to be a strong race,” Romano said.

“But not just Jude Bellingham, they also have other options. And it’s not just an alternative because Matheus Nunes could be one more midfielder in that sense that Liverpool will probably lose Oxlade-Chamberlain on a free. But from what I’m told also, Naby Keita has a very good chance to leave Liverpool on a free transfer.”

Revamp

If both Nunes and Bellingham were to join Liverpool this summer that would represent a true revamp of the Reds’ midfield.

Liverpool need new blood in the middle of the park, and signing two players of this age profile would certainly set them up for a bright future in this area of the pitch.

Unfortunately, these two deals would be very expensive, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
