West Ham have reportedly joined the race to sign AS Roma superstar Nicolo Zaniolo, with Tottenham believed to be the favourites to land the Italian international this window.
According to Voce Giallorossa, the east London side are now interested in signing the 23-year-old playmaker as Premier League interest has begun to ramp up for the Serie A talent, with the report stating that Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest are also chasing Zaniolo.
West Ham also face competition from Tottenham, who according to Alfredo Pedulla are leading the race to sign Zaniolo as an exit in 2023 becomes more and more likely for the Italian international, with Roma seemingly open to a sale this month.
Lauded as ‘frightening’ by CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, Zaniolo is regarded by many as one of the most exciting talents in Italy and a player who could become one of the best in the world if his development begins to take off in the coming months, with the winger’s form at Roma stalling a bit this season.

Nevertheless, interest in Zaniolo speaks volume as to how good the attacker is, and West Ham joining the race for the Tuscan-born superstar is an interesting development and one that Tottenham will not want to hear about this January.
Indeed, Spurs are in need of a creative outlet such as Zaniolo with Antonio Conte’s side losing steam in the race for a top-four finish. And whilst West Ham could fall short of a bid to sign the 23-year-old, Tottenham will be wise to increase their efforts to bring the Italian to north London in the coming weeks.
Tottenham must ensure they beat West Ham to Zaniolo signing

Tottenham’s need for a creative midfielder was made evident in their 2-0 loss to Arsenal this weekend that saw Spurs chasing shadows and struggling to break down the Gunners’ defence. And beating West Ham to the signing of Zaniolo would be a big step in the right direction for Conte.
As we know, the Italian international is a player who has been on Tottenham’s radar for quite some time. And Spurs missing out on the versatile attacker to West Ham of all clubs will be viewed by many supporters as an embarrassment given how poor the east London side have been in the Premier League this season.
