Rangers wanted Joey Veerman and could now end up watching the PSV Eindhoven midfielder sign for Manchester United in the future.
The Gers can probably point to a number of disappointing transfer misses over the years.
Ross Wilson is under huge pressure as a result, and that’s both in terms of missing out on quality players and signing duds.
One name that will spring to mind is midfielder Joey Veerman.
Rangers were keen to sign Veerman from Heerenveen and allegedly offered £4million to sign the midfielder in 2021.
The Athletic claim that Rangers did want Veerman but didn’t even make an offer because they felt Heerenveen would price them out.
In the end, Veerman joined boyhood club PSV Eindhoven for around £5million and Rangers may live to rue missing out.

Manchester United now want former Rangers target Joey Veerman
Veerman has been simply outstanding for PSV and has now racked up 13 goals and 12 assists in 51 outings.
Rangers would have loved that kind of attacking impact from midfield and £5million for Veerman now looks like a bargain.
Veerman’s displays have now sparked interest in his signature – and from a rather lofty club.
The Sun claim that Manchester United have placed Veerman on their wish list for a potential move to Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag has a great knowledge of Dutch football and appears to be eyeing up Veerman if he decides United need another midfielder.
Veerman is still only 24 and still has plenty of untapped potential, with Ten Hag potentially viewing him as a great fit at United.
Rangers seemingly had a window of opportunity over Veerman and missed it; now they may be left to sit and watch him head to Old Trafford down the line in a frustrating situation for Wilson and the Gers.
