Youssoufa Moukoko is on the verge of extending his stay at Borussia Dortmund despite having an offer from Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United, according to Sky Germany.

Newcastle United target Youssoufa Moukoko to stay at Borussia Dortmund

The London Evening Standard have reported that Newcastle want to sign Moukoko on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.

The Premier League club have offered the 18-year-old a salary of over £150,000 per week.

Former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea are also reported to be keen on the Germany international striker.

However, Moukoko is close to agreeing a new deal with Dortmund, according to Sky Germany.

The report has claimed that the teenager will earn more than €3 million (£2.66 million) per year in basic salary.

A final agreement is still to be reached, though.

Future move possible?

In our view, Newcastle United should continue to keep tabs on Youssoufa Moukoko, if indeed he stays at Borussia Dortmund.

After all, the Germany international is only 18.

It would make sense for the Magpies to continue to monitor the teenager and follow his career in Germany.

Perhaps in two or three years’ time, Newcastle could make a move again for Moukoko.
