Youssoufa Moukoko age has become a commonly searched term as the Newcastle target finds himself embroiled in alleged birth certificate drama.

The Borussia Dortmund No.18 has allegedly been dragged into the current controversy sweeping through Cameroonian football, after 21 of the 30 players in the Cameroon Under-17 squad failed age tests.

Further controversy followed as 11 of the replacements selected by Jean Pierre Fiala were also found to be overage.

So, what age is Moukoko? And how could this affect a move to Newcastle? Let’s take a look…

Youssoufa Moukoko age

Well, up until now, Moukoko has been documented as an 18-year-old.

However, it is now being claimed that a birth certificate dated for the year 2000 has been found with the name Yousouffa Mohamadou, with reports in Germany believing it belongs to the Cameroon-born Borussia Dortmund striker.

Laola1 in Austria claim that the Germany international’s adoptive father had sent the birth certificate to a journalist.

An investigation into age fraud in Cameroon will potentially see further details emerge.

This is not the first time Moukoko’s age has been questioned.

Back in 2017, the German Football Association emphatically denied there was anything wrong with the striker’s documents, which lists his date of birth as November 20th 2004.

Therefore, it should be officially noted that Moukoko is 18 – unless the investigation in Cameroon unearths anything that reveals otherwise.

Is Moukoko joining Newcastle?

Interestingly, the Daily Mail believe Premier League clubs interested in signing Moukoko – such as Newcastle and Chelsea – are likely to back off amid the age fraud investigation.

It comes after the Evening Standard claimed that Newcastle have offered the Borussia Dortmund No.18 a deal worth £150,000-a-week with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Of course, a deal could still happen, but the Daily Mail believe English sides are now prepared to take a step back until the age fraud problems in Cameroon are examined further.
