In-form Mahmoud ‘Trezeguet’ Hassan admits he is ‘happier’ at Trabzonspor after leaving Premier League outfit Aston Villa for the reigning Turkish champions, speaking to DHA.
With seven goals and six assists in all competitions on the banks of the Black Sea, Trezeguet is certainly playing like a man with a new lease of life. And so he should be.
After injuries and the form of Jack Grealish and Bertrand Traore brought a rather sad end to his Aston Villa career, Trezeguet is now one of the first names on the Trabzonspor team-sheet; repaying the faith shown in him by the Super Lig winners with a serious purple patch in front of goal.

Trezeguet is in outstanding form since leaving Aston Villa for Trabzonspor
“I was very happy (at Aston Villa). But now I am here, I am happier than I was there,” the Egypt international admits.
This is not to say Trezeguet has even a shred of bitterness towards the Midland giants, however. The one-time Anderlecht speedster fulfilled his dream in claret-and-blue; scoring a handful of hugely-important goals as Villa avoided relegation while reaching the EFL Cup final in 2020.
The opportunity to earn regular minutes and play and Europa League football in Turkey, however, was always going to be difficult for Trezeguet to turn down.
“I got a good offer,” says the 28-year-old, who Aston Villa sold for just £3 million. “There were many offers from Turkey and other clubs.
“Coming to Trabzon was a big step for me. I came to one of the biggest clubs in the world. I was really happy when the offer came to me, and was very well received when I arrived.
“The technical staff, the players and the club staff all welcomed me very well. Everyone is helping me to get better. I thank them all.”
With seven goals in all competitions, Trezeguet needs only two more to make this season his most prolific since a loan spell at Kasimpasa in 2017/18.
“It is a great feeling to have fans supporting you every game,” the winger adds. “It’s a great feeling to play for the fans in front of a packed stadium. They really support you a lot. (Trabzonspor) fans are amazing. With your support, we will become the champion and the best team in Turkey.”
