Borussia Dortmund are now reportedly confident in Youssoufa Moukoko signing a new deal with the Bundesliga giants despite Newcastle United offering a contract worth £150,000-a-week.

According to Sport1, the 18-year-old Germany international has his heart set on staying with Dortmund and signing a new contract with the German side, with the Black and Yellow now positive that they can secure the teenage wonderkid down to a long-term deal.

As per the report, Newcastle are willing to offer a huge financial package to secure Moukoko’s signature, including a £150,000-a-week contract as well as a €30m (£25m) signing on bonus, with Dortmund only able to offer a €10m (£8m) signing on bonus.

However, despite the huge financial gap between the two clubs, Dortmund are now confident they can sign the attacker down to a new contract Moukoko, with many agreeing that the forward staying in Germany is for the best for his exciting career.

Lauded by Four Four Two magazine as an ‘astonishing’ talent, Moukoko is regarded by many as arguably the most exciting attacking teenage talent in Europe, with the Dortmund star a regular for the Bundesliga side having made his debut at 16-years-old and breaking numerous records in the last two years.

Indeed, Newcastle signing Moukoko would have been quite the masterstroke from Eddie Howe and company. However, given just how young the forward still is and how much the forward still needs to develop before making the leap to the Premier League, signing a new deal with Dortmund is a good move for the youngster.

Moukoko could easily be considered as a once-in-a-generation talent, with the Dortmund prospect the youngest player to feature in both the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League as well as one of the youngest scorers in top-flight history. Which is why staying with the German side would be a wise decision from the striker.

After all, Moukoko is already at the best club in Europe when it comes to developing young players into world-class stars, and whilst there is an allure of already singing for a Premier League club, the 18-year-old knows that a year or two more with Dortmund could make all the difference in the long-term for his career.
