Union Berlin forward Sheraldo Becker admits that he’s been in touch with Taiwo Awoniyi regarding a potential move to Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest but remains fully committed to the Bundesliga high-flyers, speaking to BILD.
Last summer, Union Berlin lost their talisman, star striker and all-time Bundesliga top scorer; Nottingham Forest investing £17 million in Awoniyi following their dramatic play-off final victory over Huddersfield Town at Wembley.
That Union have bounced back stronger from Awoniyi’s departure, then, is testament not only to the expert management of Urs Fischer but also the outstanding form of a man who has gone from the Robin to Awoniyi’s Batman to the goalscoring superhero of the Stadion an der Alten Försterei.

Becker is already just one goal away from making 2022/23 the most prolific campaign of his career. Seven of his eight strikes have come in the Bundesliga; form that has caught the eye of Nottingham Forest (Sky Sports).

A move to the City Ground would see Becker reunite with his former sparring partner Awoniyi at the City Ground. But, with Union Berlin chasing Champions League qualification, English football can wait for the late-blooming 27-year-old.
“Friends have sent me screenshots of the news. I personally didn’t get a call from (Nottingham Forest), though. I have a contract. I’m staying,” says Becker, was a target for Leeds United during his time at ADO Den Hag in the Netherlands.
“You never know what’s going to happen in the future, but my focus is on Union now. And as long as I stay, I’ll give everything for Union; in every game, in every training session.
“Of course, I spoke to (Awoniyi). He also saw the news. We had a good time together. (He said); ‘If you come, I would be happy’. But I told him that I haven’t heard from anyone.”
Nottingham Forest, despite spending over £100 million on over 20 new players during a hectic summer window, are prioritising further reinforcements at centre-forward, central midfield and centre-half this month.
