Leicester City believe Fiorentina star Nicolas Gonzalez is keen to seal a transfer to the King Power Stadium. He is also a January target for Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.
That is according to 90min, which reports the Foxes have made I Viola a £30m offer for the 24-year-old’s services. Brendan Rodgers has identified the Argentine as an option who can kickstart the East Midlands outfit’s tepid Premier League season with the team only 13th.
Leicester have won five of their 18 top-flight games and crashed out of the Carabao Cup to Newcastle on Tuesday. Rodgers’ side have also only scored 26 goals in their league fixtures so far this term. They have scored more than once in just nine matches in 2022/23, as well.

Rodgers now appreciates what Gonzalez could add to the Leicester attack with his transfer from Fiorentina. The 21-cap dynamo has scored five goals from 11 appearances across all competitions so far this term. Even though he has only started four games due to injuries.
Yet Leicester are not alone in courting Gonzalez’s transfer from Fiorentina in January with Newcastle and Tottenham also keen. The Toon and Spurs have expressed their interest in the Belen de Escobar native to I Viola in recent months. But neither team has made a bid.

Leicester feel Fiorentina star Gonzalez wants them, not Newcastle or Tottenham
Leicester are moving to edge out Newcastle and Tottenham’s interest in Gonzalez having made Fiorentina a concrete transfer offer. The Foxes also now believe the forward – who has predominantly featured as a right-winger this season – wants to join them this month.
A £30m bid may be enough for I Viola to let the attacker leave the Stadio Artemio Franchi, as well. Gianluca Di Marzio also cites Leicester as making Fiorentina a £30m bid, which the Serie A side are considering accepting. It is also noted that the Foxes rate Gonzalez highly.
Fiorentina signed Gonzalez from VfB Stuttgart in 2021 for €23m (£20.5m) and €4m (£3.5m) in performance-related add-ons. He has since scored 13 goals and nine assists in 50 games across all competitions. The Argentine struck 23 and created 10 in 79 games for Die Roten.
